GH1 with Cooke Speed Panchro 18mm Ser. III

    http://vimeo.com/6198539

If anyone is interested in more boring footage of plants, fences and cars, take a look!

My 35mm cine lenses absolutely scream on this incredible camera; I am truly ecstatic for the future of this format, and can't wait to see what comes next!

Awesome shoot of a front yard!

I guess you have the Hot Rod Camera PL adapter for the Cooke?

There's an Arri standard mount adapter too, that is a lot cheaper (150 USD)

        Fellas,

I am using the Arri Standard mount adapter from a guy named Hawkpeng in Taiwan. These lovely old Cookes predate the PL mount. They're not that expensive, really - and cover the M4/3 sensor perfectly.

        Thanks for looking!

First off, freaking beautiful. Secondly not boring at all!

In the description you said "Cooke Speed Panchro 18mm Ser. III at T 2.0, 1080i 24P, forgot the framerate..!"
Wouldn't the framerate be 24? Unless you ment shutter speed...

Dang, if there is breathing I can't see it. Hurrah for Cine lenses!
I believe the III was the best of the old Arri standard mount lenses. You scored.
Would love to see the other focal lengths please.

Johnny Cola: You are absolutely right, I meant shutter speed!

Dadoboy: The only other cooke I have is the 40mm, which is also excellent. It's a Ser. II.

I am currently sick, but when I'm back on my feet, I'll be shooting.

              Take care!

You too! Hope you get well soon! And I hope you understand I wasn't glib, I really liked to see how that wide lens looks on the GH1. Thanks for the info on the Arri adapter. Now if only such lenses were around on the second hand market on this side of the pond.

Those are great looking lenses- Im hoping to get me a set soon. The old cookes just have such a pleasing in-camera look to them.

Hey Martti, no problem! I would imagine that Cooke lenses may be acquirable in England (I think that's what you're referring to..?) After all, Cooke is an English company.

Not quite. After a long run of being bought out by Rank, Cooke was purchased by ZGC (USA) somewhere around 98', Then ZGC's cooke started to bring the S4's to market- basically brought the cooke brand back from the dead.

That is something really special there. I've seen these going for pretty cheap. I have a feeling that there's going to be some happy discoveries over the next few months.... And people like myself, who ordinarily wouldn't consider this type of stuff, and or just rent... welll might be buying something that otherwise might be collecting dust somewhere.
