Likely very slow shutter ... a bone to the partners in crime.

Still, it might be a home run in the making.

Yeah but probably not for me

Side note, A7IV delayed release has likely more to do with the NAB than with the chips. Sony's streamer is on the 10th. One has to think that A7IV will be part of it. If not, it's not showing up on store shelves any time soon.

Maybe but I think the chip shortage is serious. I can't find an a7siii in stock anywhere. And people have said they've been waiting for an a7siii or FX6 for months and months

Apple is allegedly ordering 100 million A15 chips from Taiwan Semi. That's one client from one supplier. The chip itself runs about $40. An average car has about $600 worth of chips (electric about $800), which averages 25-30 per automobile. There are about 80 million cars manufactured per year (projections for 2021). That's over 2 billion chips required by the car industry. Smartphones account for a couple billion more. Computers gobble up another chunk. The whole semiconductor industry is generating about $700 billion in sales annually.

A popular camera sells 50,000-100,000 units per year. And uses one chip. So, I don't think it's the chip related problem.

The big camera companies should notice how Apple can do things. Like making a camera that can focus. The new 13 will have some nice new features including Pro Res and it can focus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3CZX-lnAIc

It does look like things are setting up for the GH6 and the A7IV to be shown at the NAB show. I hope the A7IV will be in the mix as that will bode well for its video capabilities. I can't believe things have been silent about the GH6 for this long. Gosh, it better be a good one after all of this time and competitor development!

Hopefully a good one and at a good price.

Is that speculation or do you have some evidence? And I too am surprised how little information has been put out, very unusual for Panny if in fact there will have a forthcoming announcement.

Unless you haven't heard NAB is not going to happen until next year. I expect Sony , Canon and Panasonic will have their own announcements in their own time. When they decided not to be at the show there really was no option but to cancel.

Pure speculation, like the rest of the thread! Camera announcements seem to happen at similar times to steal thunder etc... I thought there was a NAB event coming up in October?

They canceled the whole thing today.

Sony, Panasonic and Canon all canceled their appearances last week within a day or so of each other.

Sony is streaming on the 10th. Others haven't announced their dates yet.

But they're happy that Apple is done.

Ok. Well, we will see the cameras when they are ready.

There are dozens of smaller vendors that make up NAB. For many of them its a chance to demo their products for the first time as a company or get buzz they would never be able to get on their own. I feel bad for them.

NAB was never just about cameras and NLEs.

I would like to think it was canceled more for safety reasons which I hope is also the reason others have pulled out. Delta is getting worse out there and vaccinated or not its becoming riskier to have a large gathering.
