    Canon 1DC / 1DX Tilta cage V. Letus35 cage?

Anyone have experience with either of these cages for the 1dc, 1dx or 1dxMII ? the Letus is larger and bulkier but the Tilta costs more - just wondering about day to day operations... and EVF attachment? I have a Smallhd Sidefinder... Thoughts appreciated!

Design wise I like the Movcam cage way more because it leaves the right side alone so you can still work with the controls easily, but I'm still trying to see if there's actually a reasonable price for them. The Tilta cage seems pretty feature complete, it has spots for rails and a top handle already.

True, but you can add an amazing and cheao top handle with nato rail (small hd) to the letus for $100, and if you add a zacuto evf mount, and my sidefinder, the letus is perfect - BUT it's huge and bulky. on the other handm, the tilta is more precise, smaller, lighter and better designed, EXCEPT< you can't open the battery door to replace it when the camera is in the cage (What?!) I'm having trouble deciding. does anyone have experience with this tilta cage or letus35 cage with the 1dc, 1dx, 1dxm2, or any large camera dslr? i've tried litrally evertything and I think amazon and BH are gonna stop acceopting my returns, ha! any more experience greatly appreciated!

Movcam put me in touch with 16x9 Inc. to find out more about getting their 1DC cage so I'll see what they say.

EDIT: For the Tilta rig, it does look like you can detach the right side of the cage, and set it up more akin to the Movcam rig, through I don't know if that opens up the battery compartment completely or not.

I heard from someone on here that the tilta cage does not allow you to swap batteries in the cage, which seems insane to me. But one is on it's way to me and I will decide and post when I get it, it's down to the tilta or the letus35. Also please share you thoughts and photos of your rig, accessories, loves and hates on the new 1dc blog here! it's up! (1dx and 1dxM2 also!)

Tilta 1dc 1dx cage update! Thoughts?

Hey Guys, So after testing out 20 different config's (Letus35 cage, Tilta c-bracket, SmallRig 1/2 cage, Fotga bracket,) I finally sprang for the Tilta cage for 1dc / 1dx. it is by far the most ergonomic and lightest and best designed (and most expensive - about $700 form China.) I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback and suggestions on a few things - and please share your rig photos and tricks!

Basically I only need 3 things from my rig: 1. to be able to switch fast from shoulder mount to very low angle shots, to tripod/monopod. 2. to have a secure and sturdy evf mount system that allows me to use the Smallhd sidefinder in every position I change to and to adjust the monitor's position as fast, and 3. to accommodate a follow focus, shoulder mont (Tilta) and possibly mount a Zoom H6 and rarely a mic.

what I have settled on is this Tilta cage (specifically for Canon 1dc 1dx and 1dxm2) and it's great - I'm having a hard time figuring out the best system for the smallhd sidefinder evf setup - it needs to have a lot of extension for when i shoot from the hip but also to be compact when I go to shoulder mount. Every evf mount has problems - and the sidefinder has a unique challenge - you need to position it as an eyepiece but also you can flip it out to be a monitor. So you need a lot of left-right movement and a lot of up and down play. I have photos of the bare cage below and with the Zacuto (monster huge) evf arm - any feedback would be greatly appreciated as even the zacuto doesn't allow the left-right movement i need. Photos below, please critique and share you similar or better photos, etc! Thanks! Photos are with and without follow focus/zacuto evf arm:

Any 1dc users left? Any experience with the Tilta or Letus35 cages?

So the tilta rig does allow access to the battery, what do you think of the rig?

New 1DC user here. One of the things I love about the camera is that I don't feel the need to rig it at all. I'm betting that there are a lot of new users because the price is now sane (not cheap, but sane) and the camera is really great ergonomically. Just thinking out loud about why this thread hasn't gotten as many responses as similar threads for other cameras.

An EVF is about all I'd want to add and there's a shoe for that when I need it...

I've been in touch with the Movcam people, and have their 1DC rig on order. Still haven't received and tested it though, but glad to hear the Tilta rig allows battery egress.

In your 1DC/1DXII rig, how you are placing your XLR microphones? which adapters are you using? Or are you using non XLR microphones?
