Two Months With A 5D mark IV

For sure...I just mentioned the two most compressed codecs to point out that you actually have the option to shoot lower than the 5D Mark IV's 500mbps in UHD.

It's also worth noting that you can shoot excellent super-sampled HD from the 4K sensor at much lower bitrates that looks really nice (the HD from the 5D Mark IV doesn't compare).

And since the YT video mentions the 265 MB/s RAW, I'd like to point out that there is a 3:1 option for the RAW at 125 MB/s that's practically indistinguishable.

But that's just bitrate talk. The 5D Mark IV has many amazing features and I would choose it over any BM camera many times in various situations.

P.S. The URSAs also shoot ProRes Proxy and LT. (So a user has those options as well.)

Don't forget about plain old '422" as well - which sits at ~500mb/s or equal to the 5DmkIV. 422 is my default, and I generally only ever use 422 HQ if it is specifically requested by a producer.

In the comments the bitrate calculation vs the Blackmagic URSA at 4k is off. Canon 5d mark IV shoots at about 500 Mb/s. Notice the big S. That calculates to about 62.5 MB/s. Notice the little s. URSA shoots with a much larger bitrate.

Ursa shooting ProRes 422 HQ at 4k 25fps is about = 737Mb/sec

So it's 50% MORE BITRATE than the 5d mark IV (which people complain about).

It's the lowercase 'b" or the capital "B" that determine the size.

b - bit
B - byte

Megabits or Megabytes per second. Mb/s or MB/s....the size of the 's' doesn't matter.

Just curious - I recognize how much work went into this review - was this a commissioned piece or are you putting in so much effort for other reasons - eg self-promotion?
