"El Tio", short film shot on 5DM3 with the ML raw hack, english subtitles

We shot it at 1920*818, with a minimal lighting package. The colors were gorgeous just from the start. For the final grading we used curves, adobe raw, and a mixture of LUTs.

Thanks for sharing. RAW really elevates this camera to a new level. Blacks were kind of cuished imho (makes it look DSLR-ish) but the overall look is very nice. Shall I say "filmic"?

Lol, when you say 'filmic' in a discussion board a fairy looses her little wings.

i crushed the blacks willingly a wee for extra effect, yes, but I understand what you mean.

Great work.... and I think the crushed blacks work well... Most people are too scared to lose any DR and raise the shadows as much as possible.... but the point of having extra DR is you can be more aggressive in your grade. You can get punchy blacks and still look great (and not video like)

                Very nice work.
Doesn't look crushed to me. Blacks look nice. There is some notion around the interwebs that "filmic" = "flatish", which isn't quite the real world. In fact, cinematographers often strived to get as deep blacks as possible (ENR, bleach bypass, very high contrast print stocks, etc).

Looked great. But I was surprised by the aliasing in the garage rollup at the start. Is that a cause of the RAW? Even on 5D3?

Edit: hmm it looks like it was only a problem when shooting through the glass door to that element. That was wierd.

That was really good; some of the best looking footage that I have seen from the raw module. Congratulations!

Once I got caught up in the story I forgot to think about the technical stuff. Nice work.

Agreed. I looked at the footage, trying to spot crushed blacks, saw nothing crushed.
