    Micro-short shot on 5D3 Raw @ 60 fps - "Heroin"

    https://vimeo.com/68970165

This was all upscaled 60 fps.

I'm an avid Red shooter, and the full 1080p footage I shot today was pristine. It honestly looked more filmic than anything I've shot on the One or Scarlet.

    This hack is revolutionary.

You should, it turns this thing into an entirely new, massively improved camera!

I agree, it does look very nice. Does the RAW hack allow for 720p60 shooting? It seems all kinds of frame sizes are being shot. Are we not limited to the camera's set resolutions once the RAW shooting code is used? Thanks

No, you can use a variety of resolutions. The 1728 x 458 resolution doesn't look too great compared to 1080p, but it allowed me to shoot extremely long takes in 60fps raw without frame drops/interruption. There's a slight crop in sensor size using that resolution.

I can shoot 1920 x 508, which stretches to 1080p 2.35 in post, but I can only get about 8 seconds at a time before the buffer stops the recording. Since the takes in this collage were all improv, I wanted to roll the whole time.

What's odd is that I can hit speeds up to 90MB/s+ in 1080p 24-30fps modes, but the write speeds drop when I switch to 60fps mode. If I could just keep those write speeds where they are in 24-30p modes, I could at least shoot 1856x492 @ 60 fps no problem.

Thanks Ryan. I have not jumped into the ML RAW yet. Are the resolutions & frame rates a menu option in the ML firmware?

Yes. It's pretty easy to navigate once you get the hang of it. I use the Canon menu to switch between 24, 30 & 60 fps modes, then choose my resolution and aspect ratio in the ML menu.

The 5x crop option is also phenomenal. My Zeiss 50mm macro suddenly becomes a 250mm, tack sharp macro lens. My 100mm Sigma macro becomes a 525mm macro. I can capture an ant's pecker with that thing.

Don't think so...it's not in the nightly builds post. Your Scarlet is gonna get a hell of a lot less use now that I have this thing haha.

Footage looks soft too Me, and more filmic than anything on Red One and Scarlet :/ ...... Honestly I keep coming back to see if I see any good looking footage from this 5D Hack and the detail is low, I don't see what the hype is all about.

You didn't read the info...this was shot at a sub-720p, upscaled resolution.

Full 1080p-raw is tack sharp and looks significantly better than the format I used for this mode. In a 1080p timeline I almost prefer the 5D-raw to both of my Reds. Examples of that coming soon.

Looking forward to seeing those examples Ryan! Waiting to test out my 5DIII as well.

Think it shows off raw fairly well.

How did you expose for this? Looks great.

Nice job Terrence. The tunnel shot @ 5 seconds is phenomenal. The dynamic range I'm able to pull out of my shadows is definitely better than what I can do with Red footage (outside of HDRx). If subjects are exposed below the mids, I can add amazing microcontrast to those areas with little to no noise (and it's 100% grain produced when pushed too far...no digital noise). I simply can't do that with R3D footage.
