Time to step into the FF world, advice needed.

I have a 60d, mostly Rokinon & Nikon glass, a small DP4, Zoom H4n and a frankenrig that I love. My work is primarily short films (drama/comedy and doc) and long exposure night photography, though there's some increasing corporate work as well.

Anyways I feel it's time to step up to a FF and need to chose between the MK2 or MK3. I'll hold onto the 60d for some of the lenses I have (thinking of an FS700 style cam in a couple of years) and slo mo. I've been offered a low use (37,000) cosmetically clean Mk2 and battery grip for $1500 (I'll need a grip for whichever camera), which seems a pretty good deal, but the buzz is the new sensor on the Mk3 produces better video. Given the cam and grip will cost me at best in australia $4300 is it worth the extra spend for the extra stops/image quality?

    thanks

video is definitely better on the 5D3 in at least one sense: no more aliasing/moire, finally! but apart from that they're not so different (e.g. dynamic range is the same, and I'm not sure but I'd say colors are very close to each other); ISO is a lot better, of course, but from the prices you quote it's also 3 times as expensive... tough choice! I don't know if this is an option for you, but I'm watiting for the price to drop (it's worse than the D800 in its core market: stills; in previous cases where this has happened, the price has been adjusted in a few months: D700, 60D)

I upgraded from a 7D to a 5DMK3 and have zero regrets. I've compared it side by side with a friend's MK2 and my own personal time with MK2s and prefer the MK3 much better. Even in ease of use, it's a giant change (dedicated video button being a massive one). Can't beat the clean high ISOs either...

      I'd spend the difference personally.

My MKII is a doorstop soon to be used as a crash cam....It's a great stills camera however. If you get a mosaic filter and 1250 ISO is enough for you then go the MKII and get rid of that noisy H4n.

A juicedlink or sound devices pre is the way to go. The headphone volume is a little low for my liking too.

Thanks guys, think I might save away my nuts and hope for a price drop on the Mk3 in the next 12 months. Get the feeling that if I buy the Mk2 now I'll be angling for the upgrade in a year or so anyway.
