    Nikon ED zooms on 5D

Just curious if anyone is using the Nikon ED 17-35, 28-70, 80-200 with there 5D. I like these lenses because of the iris ring on the lens. Thoughts...experience...

Nice stuff, did you choose nikons for the manual iris or any other reasons?

I actually got some of the nikons from our photography department which use a lot of nikon cameras during the bygone days of film. The 80-200 in particular I got for my DIY 35mm lens adapter which I used on a JVC HD100 & 200.

And yes, I carried them over to DSLR use due to their manual iris control. In fact, the only EF mount I have for my 5D/7D is the Tokina 11-16.

Now here's the thing, the focus ring on mine is not ideal for rack focus for its not so smooth WHEN USED BY HAND, however, I found that it is smooth for racking when used with a gear and Follow focus.

I actually don't use ANY EF mount lenses on my 5D. I own a couple of cheap zoom (28-80, 70-300) that I use if I'm just shooting "snapshots", the kid's graduation, that kind of thing, but I don't do any video work with EF lenses.

What lenses are you using for video work?

I have used old older Nikon, but I have a (almost) full set of the M42 mount Pentax Takumars. Shoot most of my video stuff with those.
