    5d aperture control /

I read somewhere that there is no control over aperture and shutter in movie mode ?

    is this true ?

if so, how do you shoot wide open vs. stopping down etc..

You put the camera in "M" and you can change aperture, shutter, ISO, etc. to whatever you want. And you can change them while recording. That video linked above is two years old by the way.

Yeah, Canon fixed this issue a year and a half ago with a firmware update. All Canon 5D's shipped since June 2009 have complete manual control in video mode. And if you register your 5D on Canon's Product Registration page, they send you a email every time there is a firmware update.
