I used to be someone, I had my dreams, remember the D90 stair-stepping fix ? I was a contender.

Now I am just bumming around almost finished threads looking to get a question - even a "hey, anyone know how to turn the camera off ?"

      D90? stair step? whadutalkinaboudwillis?

If only Nikon had done a firmware update, I really liked that D90 look. Well the Dxx isn't far away maybe you'll get another 15 minutes.

you should have gone to Canon with a slab of beer last week like I did.

Yeah, that was my fix - the D90 Stair-Stepping Removal - 61,000 hits and counting, do you want to talk about it, I can tell you all about it, my thinking behind the epochal breakthrough, what I ate that morning, the shoes I had on, I can scan the shoes in and send you a JPEG, it would be no trouble at all, honestly ?

I was big back then, people used to PM me to invite me to threads all over the forums "Please Lee, why don't you join us guys in the 'HPX500 with Firestore FS100' thread over in the HPX500 forum, there are loads of people there who would love to meet you, they have cake too"

Now all I get is "Hey, aren't you the guy who killed that dog ?"

Yeah no problem, and we should have these as a sticky because it makes since.

I found myself using 1/2 or Full BPM on everything i have shot with the 5d. Hopefully some reduced sharpness levels and i can start using less diffusion!!!

I have a questions about display calibration. I have recently been using other peoples and shooting a colour chart and then putting that on a calibrated monitor, nowedays i have no colour chart so wondering what the best setup is for a "as accurate as one could be" LCD display.

                    Kind regards, James

Thanks for this thread guys. I am shooting a student feature on the GH1 right now but we're shooting the climax of the film on the 5D because it's an amazingly complicated shoot with limited time on a location and we have access to two 5Ds and two 5D shooters, each with an AC with me acting as DP, instead of me trying to camera operate everything. However, one of the 5D shooters is more a stills guy and the other just got his, so having this thread is pretty helpful...I've shot on the 5D before but never in a "life or death" situation for a project like this, so being able to get caught up on some of this knoweledge is great.

One quick question. Why saturation -2? I used to decrease the sat settings on my Gh1 but found I didn't like it quite as much and went back to 0. The movie is sort of a romantic comedy so a little saturation isn't too bad unless it's really screwing the latitude.

Also how bad is overheating problem in terms of image degradation over time? I will have my GH1 with me as backup in case of moire/aliasing problems on wide shots (the GH1 seems to do a bit better with this problem...if not technically then at least in appearance) and for overheating issues.

Sorry to throw that in on this thread. Thanks!

                        Picture Styles

Have any of you tried the shutterdown pancake style on a 5d? I like it but it seems like I might be missing something

I wouldn't drop the saturation down at all...in an 8 bit 4:2:0 color space you won't be able to get that info back. Contrast and sharpness all the way down.

You can use flat picture styles but you really hav to know what you're doing with those.
