    I think looking for formulas to bang out a story from is a fantastic idea!

    No, I don't. (Twist ending.)

    Every idea has its own unique characteristics that will dictate its form and length. I do like that about the article, that one must acknowledge how ideas warrant differing treatments. But I'm not sure on his answer to that dilemma.

    I think it comes down to being knowledgeable and active and banging out a lot of different kinds of things, of varying lengths to gain the experience.

    Talented people can make many different types of stories work in 5 minutes that would leave most writers reaching for vodka. How do they do it? Simple.
