Sometimes one of the more overlooked items we DVXuser's can carry in our arsenal is, well, the very thing we carry our DVX in.  Enter the KATA CCC-102 (Compact Camcorder Case) by The KATA Group.  KATA was formed in 1992 after it's founders (Nitzan Kimchi and Dror Tishler) spent years of developing solutions for the Special Operation Units of the Israel Defense Forces (considered by many to be some of the elite commandos in the world right up there with the U.S. Special Operations and the British SAS).
 
What I noticed first about the KATA CCC-102 is it's simple, streamlined profile.  I like my bags to have a little more toughness in them myself.  But don't be fooled by the smooth simple lines.  The bag more than makes up for appearance with ample storage.  I gingerly placed my DVX inside the bag saying softly "It'll be okay my little friend.  Only for a second..."  when I immediately noticed a perfect fit.  "It's as if they had the DVX in mind when they built this little bag."  To make matters even more comfortable, the bag comes with 2 "Modi-Vers".  If you haven't seen these, they are a simple, yet ingenious way to custom tailor your bag to your specific needs.  "Modi-vers" are durable, 6 layer foam dividers that allow one to create compartments in any way that you see fit.  Compartments for batteries, filters, tapes and even the cell phone.   Simply attach them to the inside of the loop fabric bag anywhere you see fit.

 
The second thing I noticed was the bright yellow inside.  Another very smart idea.  How many times have you tried finding something inside a camera bag, on a set with no light in a black bag? (Example: The female lead wants your phone number and your pen is buried somewhere in your camera bag.  You search frantically for it but it's too late.  She has grown impatient and left with the key grip.  If only you could see inside the bag!)  The contents of your bag are not only stored exactly where you need them, but are easily seen inside the bag against the bright yellow background.
 
Another nice feature is the durable nylon strap tethered inside of the bag.  This strap conveniently wraps around the DVX to firmly hold it in place.  There are two storage pockets inside the bag, one which is wide open for quick and easy access and the other which has a durable zippered closure (for the female leads phone number).
 
The outside of the bag is covered with a mouthfull of black DuPontd 1000 denier Cordurad and specially fabricated
Nycore with fluorocarbon based water-repellent finish with an additional two storage compartments.  There are two ways to carry this bag; one is with the Thermoplastic shoulder strap that is connected securely to either side of the bag or with the carrying handle with the padded mesh grip.  I'd personally like to have the option of carrying the bag in an inverted position slung over one shoulder. 

 
There are two silent action coil molded zippers that are linked for quicker access to your camera and accessories with an additional fastening system in place to secure your DVX.  An ID window is on the outside of the bag for identification purposes.   I often hear people asking "What bag should I get for airline travel?" and you'll be happy to know that these bags meet the strict new airline regulations for carry-on luggage size.  (Due to constantly changing airline regulations, please check with your carrier prior to departure.)
 
You'll also find the KATA logo and the words DV and PANASONIC.  That's right; they made it just for you.  I'll most likely cover that with a BIO-HAZARD warning sticker as I don't necasarily want people knowing I have something by PANASONIC in my bag.  I can hear them now "Ooohhhh.  Do you think it's a DVX100?"
 
Although the bag is not huge it more than makes up for space and design and the most important item in carrying your DVX around.  It can make for a great Run and Gun bag and just doesn't take up alot of space (Which should make the wife happy).  The bag makes a great carry bag but I'd still like to see a few more storage pockets in and on the outside for addtional items.
