Hi guys, check out the grabs from my latest short film, an attempt at noir.
The story is about Detective Black, a cynical private detective that has seen and experienced the darkest and most horrifying human has to offer. What happens when the darkness could not be contained anymore and manifest itself as his worst nightmare? This was supposed to be the first part of three that will eventually be assembled into a feature length version but due to time and money, I will probably have to settle for a short version for now. Check out the thread below http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=90155 for costume test pics and production diaries. For now, enjoy some screen grabs, some CC-ed and some not. Comments and questions welcomed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Great work Vincent, would love to see the first 3 grabs uncc, and can't wait to see what your going to do with the last few when you cc them. Would be great if you could give us a walkthrough on how you color corrected those night shots and what programs you used to do so
Cheers |

Thank you for all your comments.
And to answer some of your questions... This project was shot with a PAL DVX102B 25P mode. Since I have used Cinegamma V and Cinegamma D extensively before, I tried Black Press this time. I find Cinegamma V and Black Press very similiar. I will probably stick with Cinegamma D from now on. Black Press and Cinegamma V while offering nice contrast from the get go also crushes to much detail in the dark areas for my liking. Equipments are just three red heads and a bunch of gels and diffusers. No 35mm adapter was used. I did use a Panasonic wide angle for wide shots though. I am currently editing the short film on a G4 Mac with Final Cut Pro 3. It's an old machine and software but it works well enough though a little slow. A lot of on set lighting work was done to get as close as possible to the look I want. The rest that I can't do on set I did it in post. The first three stills and the last four are the CC-ed ones. Stills 4 and 5 are still uncorrected. Hopefully I will be able to post a teaser trailer by next week. The short film is around 70% edited but still a lot of work in terms of sound effects, music, and voiceovers. For now, enjoy a few more stills I have. I will be posting comparisons of CC-ed and unCC-ed stills this coming Monday. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Those look great, I really like the lighting in the office with the shadow of the blinds.
