Default My Rollerblade Dolly

Here is mine!!! hope its simple enough... btw its the best dolly ive worked with other than the fisher 10. sorry for the huge pics but they should help i think and i dont know how to reduce size with the "[img]" tags
Materials
--------------------------------
16 - Agressive rollerblade wheels - had em from my rollerblades but easy to find at sportmart or something.
32 - abec something bearings - Sportmart or where ever. you can also get these bundle with cheap wheels. $20 + or - for bundled pack
3 ft - 90 degree steel plate - Local ACE hardware
4 - 3-4inch - lazy susans - Local ACE hardware
1 - Sheet of 1/2inch plywood. i measure the average width of a doorway so it could fit through doorways i think i got around 22 inches just to be safe. maybe 24inches
16 - bolts that fit snug in bearings.
16 - nuts to fit bolts bunch o' washers - these are to space the rail from the wheel so they dont rub so get washers that wont rub on the bearing while it turns remeber you going to put alot of wieght on them.

3/4inch PVC pipe = whateve lengh or size you want. i picked 3/4 for its abilty to curve but also for its inability to flex. you can say its a nice balance also it what i think proffessional track to be around.

here are pics i think its self explainatory but if you need more info just ask.

Spacing of the wheels was not accurate i think i just put them next to the bar then put it on the pipe and saw that they needed to be about 1/2inch up to fit right. (your wheels may need to be a different height, also i used washers to space the wheels away form the rail.)

When welding the Lazy Susans we found we needed to submerge in water keep the bearings from warping in the bearing track. (make sure the bearings dont get hot). also here you can see my washers and the small washer by the wheel that only touches the very inside of the bearing so the bearing isnt effected.

here i should point out that the lazy susans are optional you can fix them onto your plywood board, BUT I DID IT TO IT WILL WORK FOR ROUND TRACK/BENT TRACK.

we made the wheels on it own plywood for the big board to sit on yes its unsafe but i wanted the wheels to be easy to adjust to different size track also so they could move when on curved track.

of course had to make it black. *optional for kewl looks*

Hope this helps <-- please tell me if it does kinda took awhile to get this all up

cool dolly!
How do you adjust it to different sized tracks?
And how is the big board attached?

its not attached it just rests upon the two other board that the wheels are attached to. the adjustment of the wheels can either be just slant the wheel boards to queez the wheels together or just unscrew and rescrew the wheels

Nice Man, I like that pic too. It cracks me up. I just saw those small Lazy Suzan's at ACE hardware, and thought hmmm that would be a great way to mount my dolly! So did the intense heat from the welding bind the ballbearings at all? What kind of metal is your angle iron?

Good stuff. I think I will build one. Gotta figure out how to do it without welding though. Have you tried it on a curved path? Does it work as intended?

the lazy susans were to enable the wheels to move according to curved track. and the welding was to get the lazy susan to stick to the angle bar.
