So, tried cine gamma normal, and.. well.. it sucks to be honest, so forget that lol.
Cine Gamma 2 really does seem to be the best bet, and Cine gamma 1 i guess if you are in extreme low light and need that little extra boost without adding noise. Did some quick tests, and yes, had a haircut so.. a new me. please forgive the softfocus, i did not have a model to stand in for me to judge my focus distance during this 20 second test, but it does give you something to compare. Here are stills, again, of Vision 4 and Pana look 2 ![]() ![]() And here is my assimilation of the two presets into one which i call Panavision hehe. A nice blend of the two presets while maintaining panalook sharpness, with a mix of the twos color and black levels.Subtle difference, but it may be exactly what i was looking for.

Please share the settings.
I did a similar experiment last night of combining elements of the two but it got too late to shoot examples. |

Setup at 0 means blacks at 7.5 IRE (RGB 16, 16, 16)
Setup at -9 = IRE 0 (RGB 0.0.0)

Sounsd about right,
In my panavision preset, i see my blacks hit 0 IRE without crushing or compressing the blacks too much. This also allows more room to make adjustments with slight curve adjustment in post. I think i gots me a preset. |

PaPa YOU GOT IT! Panavision (amazing name) is so far better and has all the best qualities of the others. I was comparing Panalook with Vision04, they seemed pretty nice, but when i scrolled and saw PANAVISION i was stunned! The first preset with a nice skin color, great contrast and film look

. Hopefully the purples/dark blues/and rich pink colors turn out perfect. *crosses fingers* If so, this is the replacement to vision01 I've been searching for .*EDIT* Just tried it. O....M....G....You guys hit paydirt. It's pretty spot on and it's actually brighter than vision01. Looks great and I'll be using this from now on. Thanks so much for all the hardwork PaPa and Gio! Now the one thing that is still bugging me is still a small subtle difference. The preset is having a hardtime with the rich violet/purples which also is part of the reason I suspect it has a hard time with the rich pinks. Here's the color that it looks darker blue than violet : I used that exact product to test the presets color ability on and it still had close to the same issue as vision01. All other shades of blue are perfect as far as the difference in shades and color. It's more the richer purple and dark/rich pink area of the color chart thats giving me a hard time. Easter egg purple comes out fine as well as lighter pinks. Can you please tweak just that part PaPa? I'm not sure if you have to add red or take away blue. I don't have the program loaded up which let's you test the settings live. Thanks for any help in advance! Last edited by Humanoid Typhoon; 12-10-2008 at 01:31 PM. |
