I was playing around with Terragen. It's a pretty intuitive world generator. My first attempt.

Hey Vidled, are you doing your animating in Terragen? And have you composited terragen footage with 3d models? Just curious about how far you can push this program..

Check out the movie- Stealth. Not a great film but has extensive Terragen sequences in it.

Wow, well, Isaac: it's a HUGE subject, not sure where to start!
There is something called TERRAGEN 2 (or TGD) that is a complete re-write of the original software. THAT can do MUCH MUCH more than Terragen. I'm beta testing it, but haven't spent too much time with it so far (unfortunately). But yes, all animations I did were done in Terragen directly (using a plug-in called Campath NOTE: IF YOU GET IT, GET v3.23 NOT 4, as v3.23 it is much easier to use). There's quite amazing things that can be done with the current version of Terragen though. Here's some samples: http://www.pig.us/t/fjordland-3mb-mov.mov (Terragen with Campath, and Cool3D, and Videomach, and an NLE) http://fjordland.com/mwo-big.mov (warning: dubious taste!! Terragen with Campath, and Poser, and Videomach, and an NLE) A pic using TGD:

Whoa Vidled. That second video was very strange. I didn't realize Stealth used Terragen. Huh. Pretty powerful program.

Weird: lol, indeed! I take no credit for the song, it was given to me by Sal, and I yield most blame to him!

Terragen is a great program.
Everyone should know you can create your own depth maps for it in Photoshop, and even more exciting, you can download satalite images and use those as well. There are Terragen renders of Hawaii and other places of the like that are fantastic. There are links on the main terragen page for info on how to animate with it. check this out: http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/terracon/ Old Terragen contests, very impressive stuff there. And yes, you can use Terragen to create files for use in your 3D app of choice. The poly count is through the roof, but there are utilities out there for Lightwave and 3D max conversions. EDIT: Just read through the TGD FAQ, and wow. Incredible possibilities. Someone asked about water simulation and fluid dyanmics? While this would be great, I don't see it happenening. If they support multipass rendering, Terragen will be unstoppable.
