Backstory on short:
So I get the new Canon Rebel 550D T2i that just came out ($899 1080p hdslr camera) on Friday, charge the battery overnight. I shoot some test footage over the weekend to get familiar with using the camera. You can watch the test footage here... http://vimeo.com/9848205

I then think of an idea for three short films, and start pitching them to actors to see who's interested in possibly doing one of them. I contact Lindsay and she's out of town. Other actors/actresses I know are busy on such short notice or out of town. So I'm thinking I won't be shooting anything for betrayalfest. Then Lindsay contacts me saying she's back in town early on Tuesday if I still want to shoot something. I talk to her about the short and she's on board with it and I say how about we shoot it tonight? I contacted my friends Chris and Mason about it and they came out and helped with the shoot. So it was shot Tuesday night, edited Wednesday, exported/adjusted Thursday, and uploaded Friday. It's been a busy week. My first short using an HDSLR. All audio you hear in it comes straight from the HDSLR camera, no plugged in mics or external audio. All shots are handheld or tripod. Color pass effect done in CS4. Looking forward to sharing it with people and hearing comments.


I wanted to go back through and highlight some of the more positive comments said about the film and say thanks to everyone who took the time to watch it and comment!

You're film grinded on me. The thing that I have to respect about this film is that, it was on purpose. They say that with enough discourse, that the meaning of anything can be changed and that's what I got from this film. For me, The distant kissing that seemed to seemed to go on forever parallels his mindset, like you can talk yourself out of everything. Not because it's wrong, but because you desire something different, even if what you really want is right in front of you.
I like that you literally demanded patience from your audience.

I liked the film with the music, I liked the track and I liked the V.O. One of the more effective uses of score in this competition.

Memorable Moment
Liked the ending shots. The one around 4:22. The film as a whole was pretty memorable and I think you pulled off what you intended to do.

The story:
Simple yet so complicated. A story very focused on affection - it's one of those flicks which has so many layers. The love scenes and the kissing captured so much in so little time. Good job!

The acting:
Both of the characters did very well - you can tell they weren't new to the idea of kissing and making love. The tone of the narrator was well fit for the story.

The camerawork:
The framing was just right. The tight shots were pretty cool!

The sound and music:
Music was perfect for the story, the narration was very good quality.

Overall impression:
The theme of betrayal here was very carefully woven into the story. Amazing!
