Default T2i - no HDMI out during take?

According to this blog post, there is no way to monitor the T2i via HDMI after pressing record. Can anyone else with the camera confirm?

On DVInfo they were saying that yes there is monitoring, but only in standard-def. The HDMI port was said to be 1080i during non-recording, but when going into record mode it blanks out the screen for a second or two and then comes back on, but in a reduced-res 480p version.

I don't know, haven't used one, but that's what I read on DVInfo from Kaku Ito.

That's interesting - I'm curious as to what causes the camera do to do that. I was thinking of getting the T2I as a 3rd camera, but that issue is somewhat of a biggie to me.

Sounds like we're getting conflicting reports, which usually means we'll have to wait until a few more people get their hands on one and report back...

Thanks.

I know about the 5D & 7D's monitoring capabilities. It's the T2i monitoring that I was interested in for this post.

i am able to monitor in SD using the included composite cables while shooting. I have not yet tried the HDMI out yet as I do not have an HDMI mini to HDMI cable. but SD on composite works 100%

the t2i can not monitor in HD while recording. Via HDMI once i hit record, my marshall flashes blue, than shows the input source change to 480 and its a streched SD image, just like the 5D. I have a 7D and it does not do that, when i hit record on the 7D the image stays the same and all that happens is the red dot pop ups.

maybe its due to only having one processor, compared to the 7d which has two

$799 vs. $1699. Something's gotta give.
