Production notes:

03.20.2009 Jason Ramsey polls for one of two fests. CrimeFest or QuestFest? I hadn't done a DVXUser fest in a while and thought QuestFest could be fun. Started thinking of ideas... just in case.

03.29.2009 After submitting the pitch, got the 'Go' from the 'Studio'. All I got was 'Go', so hopefully that's a good thing?

04.02.2009 Developed the story with scenes outline. Developing characters, locations, incidents.

04.03.2009 First Draft of the script in one night.

04.04.2009 Submitted script for review from trusted advisors. Got good feedback. Re-write, re-write, looking good.

04.05.2009 Calls for cast and crew. A little bit of location scouting today.

05.02.2009 Acquired one location. Not perfect for what I need, but will do in a pinch. Still looking for the lead male character.

04.17.2009 More location scouting. Finding it difficult to lock down a grocery store or market that will allow us to film. There are a couple of possibilities and I'm still hopeful.

05.09.2009 Still no poster. Waiting to lock down a location to shoot some stills for the poster. Storyboard and Shot List done today. Yay!

06.23.2009 Finished production today at 2:00am. Yesterday we filmed until 4:00am in the morning, but got all of the shots. The film gods were smiling on us. Now into post! Looks like we'll make it!

06.27.2009 Edit film down to 6 minutes exactly. Now on to sound. I'm still not 100 percent happy with the pacing of a few of the scenes, but it works for the 6 minute limit (which is still a good exercise by the way). Look for a little 'tribute' to one of the DVXUser Mods in a small scene. I'm know that working with some of the sound will be a huge challenge because we shot some scenes in a market with all of the freezer fans blowing. I had a similar challenge when I shot a short film in a florist shop with all of the coolers... and you can't ask the owners to turn them off.

06.29.2009 Sound finished. DVXUser leader added. Ready to upload, but it seems like there could be a little more fine tuning. I'll let it rest and upload in a day or so.

06.30.2009 It is done. Just uploaded the film successfully. Now, on to the 'Director's Cut' DVD version. I look forward to seeing everyone's film!

Screen Grabs

I won't be posting too many screen grabs that might give away the story.

This could prove to be one of the most harrowing quests of the entire fest!

Good luck and welcome to the fest.
