Default KxS is dead, long live KxS

Fear not breatherin, for though sacred Kensington card reader may be disscontinued but soon, there shalt be an annoucement of a replacement which wortketh not only as well as thy Kensington, but also alloweth thy EX1 door to closeth!

Tiss being well tested as we speak.

Stay tuned.

Oh I will soon Steve, but rest assured it would appear that the demise of the K33407US is not going to stop the use of SD as SxS! So far this other adaptor is working as well as the K33407, I even shot a job on it tonight, no problem. Just going through testing OC, 24fps OC to 40fps, filles a whole Ultra II, @ 45fps it failed after 17min and @ 50fps failed after 1min 17sec.

Just got a few arrangement and a bit more testing to do and I'll publish the details. Not ti mention re-writing the KxS page...

Viva KxS!

I just got my EX1 last week....just in time for my order of a Kensington card to be canceled by Amazon.

Ironically, KxS was one reason I chose this camera over some others. Please keep us posted on the new solution!

You know, with the EX3 I actually think the Kensington is still the better choice if you have them or can still get them, only because the door closes anyway, and there is an ergonomic adjustment you need to make with a flush adaptor.

These flush adaptors use a 'push to eject' spring loaded mechanism, so there is the danger of you pushing the combo into the camera, and ejecting the SD card at the same time. With two combos this runs the danger of confusing the camera and it stops recording. We have seen this with KxS if you have to KxS inserted, are recording to one and just pull the SD card on the other leaving the reader in the camera.

You have to learn to insert the new combo pushing on either edge, not on the centre. I have to test more on this to see if it is safe to insert an empty reader, then insert the SD card, while recording to the other combo because that may prove the easiest and safest way to do it.
