I spoke again with Alan at Caprock today and I asked about the possibility of producing a 77mm filter. He said this would be really difficult because retooling up for that would cost the company thousands of dollars and he just doesn't think it's realistic for what remains essentially a niche market. Sorry folks!

but he sells a 4x4 filter with a working area of 3x3.
3 inch is like about 76mm.
considering that the filter ring is 77mm but the phisical dimension of the lens is less this 4x4 filter could cover even a lens with 82mm filter ring(EXPECIALLY WIDEANGLE).
don't you think so?

take a look at this nikon 17-35mm.
it accepts 77mm filter but the lens is more small than 77mm:

Of course the 4x4 filter would be great, but I just don't want to have to use and carry around my mattebox all the time.
