Conversely, if you don't have a RED at your disposal, you would be crazy not to shoot.

I have a RED and just bought a 7D. Different tools for different shows. With the 7D, I plan on getting shots in seconds out of my backback, in Grand Central without a permit, at night without lights, in crowds with no one freaking out over the big camera, etc. With the RED, I shoot with a crew and a budget. It's not a run and gun camera and probably the most ill balanced hand held camera out there. You need an AC, 2nd AC and a data manager. I plan to use the RED for shows with a budget and the 7D to satisfy my impulses and get shots I can't get with any other setup.

If I didn't have the money for AD's and PA's to lock locations, 2nd AC and Data Manager, Proper camera support, PL mount lenses, then I'd definitely shoot on 7D.

There are so many variables for this, but if your doing this "gorilla" style where you don't want the hotel management knowing what your up too, you don't have a permit and you want as small a crew as possible, use the 7D.

Your not likely to get in and out of the hotel unnoticed with the crew required to manhandle the Red. (Especially if your doing something sexually explicit...)

Just a thought.

That's it. One more "little detail", if you don't have some substantial experience with larger cameras, hopefully some film cameras, the RED will be a bit of a challenge.
If you are at the beginning of this wonderful and exciting ride which is filmmaking, play it safe and focus on your storytelling abilities, in other words go with the 7D.
