Default How to record good quality sound with my d90?

I would like to use my d90 to shoot video but the sound is fairly horrible i was wondering what options i have as far as 3rd party devices to record sound simultaneously. I had taken a look at the zoom h4n as a viable option for recording sound.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks in advance, William Graydon.

Have a look at this. Can't imagine why it would not apply to the D90

I just got an H4n, because of the weak sound on the D90.

it works great! Ive used it with just the on board mics, and plugging in an XLR mic on a boom (since the h4n provides phantom power), and either way works amazing. (really nice little recorder for only $300)

You can check my daily footage in the dslr screening room, some of the audio there was recorded with the H4n with a mic boomed out.

I didnt use any plugins to sync, just manually, i used a slate to spike the audio on both sources and lined them up.

I use sony vegas primarily. I do have access to final cut at school but since i do most of my editing at home i dont use it to often.

Keep in mind only my latest daily footage has the H4n (just got it)
