I have an HVX200a and have been using Raylight for Mac and Final Cut Pro 6 for a while now. The programs have worked together flawlessly for the most part, until now...
I have been working on a project, and everything had been going good. Here is my workflow... -Transfer footage onto external HD -Run Raylight -Get the folder that contains the correct .mxf.mov foles and move it to the same location as the footage -Import .mxf.mov into FCP and begin working But for some reason, the last set of interview clips that I tried this with are simply not showing any video/audio when they play. Raylight makes the files that are needed, but when I play them either in Quicktime or FCP, it is just black. My first thought was that it may be the footage itself, but when I take the footage from the hard drive and "Log and Transfer" it works out just fine. Any ideas? Are the card/folder names too long? I think Raylight requires the names to be less than 31 characters...and there are some symbols you can't use either. Try shortening the names and using only a-z (or A-Z) and 0-9 and see if that helps. You'll need to delete the links it's already created and get it to scan the folders again.

Fritz is right about the file/folder name limit. A few other things to check can be found on our support blog, the relevant post is here. BTW, there is an option in Raylight that will create the link files in the same folder as the source MXF files so you don't have to copy them over from the default destination folder.

Whay are you using Raylight with FCP anyway.
I always thought that FCP was able to convert the mxf files to a quicktime file in the log and transfer window.

DITTO. Had the same problem with a long file name.
atifilmguy - raylight is quicker and easier to use than fcp's log and transfer. Plus, you don't need to throw away all of the P2 meta data. Jason

Many of us think Raylight is the "missing link" that completes FCP's P2 integration. Instantaneous editing, no need to convert to Quicktime files, no need for "log & transfer" at all. If you shot and transferred two terabytes of footage in the field, you could plug in your hard drives and edit instantly, in ten seconds, rather than waiting for the log & transfer function. Plus, Raylight supports the P2 metadata and allows you to organize and sort your clips on the metadata, so you could have it instantly set up separate bins based on shoot day, or shooter name, or all sorts of things.
