So, I was capturing some video with my DVX100A. I bumped the fast forward while it was logging. The screen went blank and there was a strange noise from the camera. I stopped the tape and ejected only to find a small amount of tape pressed outside tape enclosure. I removed the tape, put in a fresh one and tried playback only to find no image, then after several seconds of playback an image with heavy grey blinds running horozontally across the frame.
At this point, I'm freakin out. I stop the tape again, clean the heads and try again. Now there's no image at all. No sound either. Am I screwed, or is there something simple I can do to repair whatever damage was done?
If I have to get this thing repaird, who would do that, how long might it take, and how much might it cost?

scary s*%t man, unfortunately I can't help you except give you advice for the future, use a really s*%tty cam for capturing, not only will you avoid stupid stuff like this, youll also have less hours on the heads, and thus a generally higher resale value...

Don't neccesarily use a "shi*ty" camera for capture....just don't use your DVX. (A mini DV deck would be better if you can get one)

I'm new, but check obvious stuff. Did you try to hit reset? Spray some clean canned air to clean it, and demag a few more times....Recharge the batteries?

Am I screwed?
