Here's a riddle, unfortunately true situation. Just back from a trip where I shot in Spain. About 25 minutes are missing from the middle of one tape. Footage and timecode run fine to about twelve minutes, then there's the gap, then footage and timecode pick up againg around 37 minutes. I'm not getting anything in the gap while playing from my deck or from the camera. But it seems like it had recorded because the time code pops back in at 37 minutes. It would have started at 0:00 again if I perhaps had fast forwarded the tape by accident. I recall no problems while shooting, and the next three tapes are fine all the way through (thank god).
Any ideas?
I wonder if going through airport security damaged just that part of the tape. I had them in my carry on going through the x-ray, and I don't think they used the metal detector wand on that bag. Could there just be a 25 minute bunk part of that tape, with no warning while shooting?
Before I have 'the talk' with the client I'd like to see if anyone has ever experienced such a thing.
thanks
scott
