Hi all
I've got this question
Is there a great difference in quality between the DVX100 and a 2/3'' CCD camera?
I'ts because I've been asked to do a documentary for a ONG. They already have footage recorded on a 2/3'' DVCAM and want to have technical continuity.
What can I tell them? Is it enough quality to edit footage from both cameras together?
Thank you all
Pablo

Depends on the camera and the lens. Usually the answer will be yes, but if you're talking about a very old original DVCAM camera there's a possibility the DVX would look as good. If it's a newer cam like the DSR450WS, then the DVX won't be able to compare as far as noise texture and overall sharpness. But a DVX can hold up very well compared to one of the early BetaSP cameras so... which cam are you comparing to?

The tape format is the same, but the 2/3" cam will have shallower depth of field. Also, likely it is a more expensive cam, with better glass, dynamic range, and DSP's. Probably produces more natural and pleasing images, smoother with less noise. Of course, they could also shoot crappy footage with the camera, but overall, it'll be a nicer image.

Thank you for the information
Yes, I thought the biggest difference would be the depth of field, but finally they told me it's not important, I'll do the work.
Thanks again

How does the DVX100 compare to a 2/3'' DVCAM?
