I give up, I have tried so many options and i can't really find a good way to compress 24p footage for youtube to maintain the best level of quality and NOT LOSE AUDIO SYNC.
do any of you have advice?

Use 2000 kbps h.264 and resize to 320x240 yourself -- dont let youtube do that. You should get pretty good results from this: Here is an example

There is a bit of a disagreement here - Is it best to resize to Youtube size or use 480x360 pixels as Mr. Deity recommends? His video quality is the best I have seen on Youtube (although the anti-religious theme may not please everyone)

All youtube videos are natively 320x240 and blown up to 480x360 in the player. I thought they were 480x360 for a while though too. If you press the button next to the full screen button you will see that they are truly 320x240.
That is very high quality though. I think bright lighting and minimal motion is the key to his picture quality.
