$700 - this thing is fast - works like a charm with the p2 footage.
The P2 footage goes right in the PCMCIA slot - install the driver from the webpage and boom you are good to go.

1.6GHz Intel Celeron M Processor
Not exactly a racehorse with the core duos and CD2s around

It's not about playing Halo. I think he was getting at being able to sling P2 and slice the footage as well. A new Core2Duo would be great for such a thing, possibly eliminating the need for an indie desktop PC station.I just use my Dell laptop for offloading, but it could it could stand a ram and hard-drive upgrade; amongst other things.

Might want to keep your personal comments off the boards.

My comment was in reference to your comment about a celeron 1.6 - - "this thing is fast."
All I stated was that it wasn't a racehorse in comparison to the core duos and CD2s. And it isn't. It is significantly slower, and editing, especially with DVDCPro HD footage is problematic.
Again, I don't appreciate personal comments.
Thanks and keep it professional.

Whoa! Inter-David conflict!
Anyway, I don't know about heavy effects, but a 1.5 GHz Powerbook handles basic DVCProHD editng (e.g., cuts, fades, etc.) without much problem. Would a Celery M be that much slower? Certailnly no desktop replacement, but maybe good as "cheapest best" (whatever than means) for the field...
In any case, TigerDirect has some similarly-specced laptops on sale for about $400...

And it's exactly why I'm done with this one. You two really need to get jobs and out of your mother's basements. You can't fix stupid. And I don't have time for stupid." -swoopie

Or you could buy my Ti Powerbook with editing software for about the same price. PM for details.

How could anyone actually get worked up by this comment?

Hey, no problem.
I guess I react strongly about responses that assume things that aren't there.
Let's move on.
In any case, why can't I find a quality CD2 with a 12 inch screen, PC Card slot and made by Sony for less than $1200.00?

Best cheapest laptop for HVX200 is...
