I picked up a Samsung scd453 open box for $139 at Circuit City (usually they suck, but sometimes you can find a deal if you look hard enough). I played back some footage shot with my Panny and a 16:9 adapter, on my monitor, which has underscan. It played back fine in regular 16:9 mode, but in underscan there is a bright blue line on the left side of the frame. Anyone know why, and will this be a problem when I capture into NLE?

I get that blue line as well. And i've noticed on other cameras that i've used, similar occurrences in the underscan, ie. a flickering white line at the top . I'm not sure what causes it but I think its 'normal' so the speak, as its not going to show up on most tvs. and it hasn't caused any nle capture problems for me.

It's completely normal. Just crop it away in post.
