WATCH MEAT
EDIT: THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD. PLEASE WATCH THE MOVIE BEFORE READING!
I'm very curious to get feedback on our short, MEAT. We wanted to see how much action/plot/character we could cram into 6 minutes (and it's EXACTLY 6 minutes!). We re-wrote and re-wrote, workshopped the actors, did test shots, built a dummy that squirts blood, figured out how to do an orchestral score... and got our asses kicked in the process.
The short was shot mainly on HVX, with some surveillance-type footage shot on DVX100a. We wanted to do a cool Magic Bullet thing, but we ran out of time for the Horrorfest version. We're planning a slightly longer version, and we'll be doing an HD screening at FotoKem in Burbank in the next couple of weeks.

I like it! Cool little story, some really good camera work and GREAT sound.

Entertaining...thats what I look for, and this fit the bill. Well done.

GREAT WORK!
Very well done in all aspects. This short stands on its own, and is complete. Not many can say the same.
And one thing I definitely liked about this short is the fact that there's no fancy-pancy, over-the-top scenes that cry "look how clever I am as a director", but just straight forward, good film making. And yes, there some very COOL shots in there too, but none that override the story, as is the case with other shorts.
"Barbara's" acting is phenomenal. Actually, they all were very good.
(the only, tiny gripe I'd have is after watching it a second time: the scene of the stun-gun on Jack by his wife seems wrong if only they two are present. Although Barry walks in with his wife afterwards, they would have had to be there DURING the stun-gunning in order for it to make sense. But it's a small thing...)

So far the
best written
most fun
evenly well executed
most genre fulfilling
and most appropriate story for the time constraints
this really zings and works well within the 6 minutes, not sure it needs a longer cut
great job
of course the audio was great
but acting was really nice as well
the lighting, while not jaw dropping (and it shouldn't be for this short) did set the mood really well and was well done
also great editing
but above all fun and executed well enough that I just got to watch and and enjoy
congrats
in my top 3 so far

damn man. I'm quite surprised on this one. So many twists, lots of fun and just off the wall kookoo.
Score worked perfect!
I think the acting at the beginning when he's eating the kroger shrimp platter was a little weak, but after seeing the end, it kind of makes sense. They were ACTING!!
heheheheh
congrats on entering. Definitely well put together film.
cheers!
