It seems everybody over at Camcorderinfo.com seems to say the 24p is just a gimic. From what I have seen of the grabs on this website they have to be out of their mind.
So there saying, in post a PD170 can get the same look of the DVX in 24p A mode?

"One last note...don't be taken in by the 24p deal with the 100a. A lot of producers suddenly wanted what was said to be "film look." Nothing looks like film but film, and if you want to drop frames now and then to achieve that "look", you can do it in post. The 100a simply drops 6 frames a second while shooting"

The DVX does NOT drop frames while shooting. The camera literally runs at 24hrz - 24 fps. It is then recorded to tape with one of two variant pull downs.
No you cannot get the same look from a PD-170. Anyone who tells you that is either in denial or hasn't played around with a DVX. You can mimick 24p with interlaced video but you will loose resolution and it will NOT look quite the same.Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the men of old; seek what they sought.

I seriously can't stand camcorderinfo. I think they are the one of the biggest jokes on the net. Every single review that I have read about any camera on that site is either lacking facts, extremely biased and just plain untrue. Their reviewers seem to have no experience at all in real life camera work. Their tests are done wrong, and personally I feel they are just lacking in intellect. I wouldn't trust a single review, test, or preview from that site, no matter what the camera.

And also, don’t pay attention to what some anonymous Internet poster says about it. Who knows what kind of axe he might have to grind? At best, he’s genuine, but genuinely misinformed. Come into the light . . .
What he describes, by the way, is how the Sony Cineframe24 works.

I actually didn't even follow the link, can't stand that site, but it has come to my attention that this was just a post of an internet user. My bad, however, I still stand firm in my stance of the actual writers at camcorder info.

..i would lean towards your view of the credibility there as well. ive read some pretty audacious things at that site on occasion. they've made some pretty unintelligent statments very boldy.

Oh, absolutely. I certainly didn't mean to defend the site's credibility. Just giving a further reason to dismiss it.
