And the noise where when you pushed the gain switch. And as a owner of the orginal DVX100 thats something we never use in progressive footage.

For filmmaking. Low light isnt as important as Latitude, Color and Resolution. And above all the overall look.

Am I the only one wo thinks Colleteral would have looked better if it was shoot with F6 mode on a DVX100 (1/50) compared to the open shutter footage of the F-900.

I loved the collateral look, though perhaps if they pulled out the green a bit, it would have looked better.

Take a good look at the noise on a DVX lcd in low light, plenty of noise to be had yet the cam holds up pretty well. But as others said I guess we will have to wait for the real world stuff to get a good idea. Too bad for me insofar as Ill have the cam before that.

Hmm, intertestign discission on this topic.

The camera is beeing fed drirectly yo a Monitor down HD-SDI.

I will go over in a couple of minutes and compare the XL-H1 which is next to the G1.

Might even pop in a tape and roll some footage - thoguh I can't capture anythgin other than DV, sorry.

Cheers Mikko, that would be really helpful for a lot of us! I was dead set on picking up 2 of these cams, but now I'm worried ;)

I have G1 footage ON TAPE!

I shot a multitude of settings. On both a XL-H1 with a new 6x wide lens they just announced. And with a G1 with a Wide adapter on it (which apparently doesn't cause any noticable light loss). That's the only cameras I coudl stealth a tape into.

I have both DV at 25f and 50i and HDV at 25f.

Now all I need to do is find a place to capture this stuff!
I have no way of processing the HDV, but I can get the DV as soon as I can find a spare camera/deck I can use.

You rock ;) Did you feel that there was an appreciable difference in low-light performance? (although I can imagine that the conference centre isn't the best place to test that..)

Enjoy the rest of the show Mikko- I'm sure we can wait for actual captures, but any opinions on the relative performance of the cams would be appreciated ;) Since they use the same CCDs/DSP, the only real difference 'should' be the glass.. most likely slightly less sharpness and perhaps a little more CA in the A1/G1 ...
