Knob on zoom dial

What is the function of the nob on the zoom ring. The one that screws in or out? Also..I found the DVXs owner's manual kind of confusing..can anyone suggest a good guide to the camera either in book form or online?

I'm still waiting to see if anyone knows what the screw in knob on the zoom ring is. Help!!

Nothing else than to give you a quick visual indication of your zoom level.

But you can attach a string to it and use it as a zoom-pull remote-control (this is no joke - I read somewhere it's actually been done for slow zooms).

OK, I guess elmonte has suffered through enough DVXish fun.

When the zoom is switched to manual mode, you can do a whip or crash zoom with the pin on the ring.

Apparently no one knows about this little feature.
