    Complete 720p/25PN FCP Workflow Instructions

    Hi everyone,

It's been a neverending saga for the folks downunder and those in Europe who are banging our heads against the wall with the lack of support for 720/25PN in Final Cut Pro.

Well I came across a document today that explains in very detailed yet simple terms how to get 25p footage from your HVX200E into Final Cut Pro. Seems no one told us when they sold us the camera that FCP only imported footage from your HVX200 if you lived in the US.

So for everyone in Asia/Pacific and Eurpoe who hasn't stumbled accross this document - it's the only thing that's going to give you any solace until Apple recognise anyone outside the US as part of the Global economy The only drawback is the US$199 additional software needed to make it happen - apart from that I'm a little relieved that albeit clunky, it is a working solution to get my projects out on time.

It takes a few minutes to load...

BARRY GREEN or anyone else who moderates this site - could you please "sticky" this for everyone in PAL land who has to search through threads for hours looking for an answer to this question?

Hope it helps - it's definately helped me.

Check out CineForm Aspect HD, they work with PP2.0, with Avid Iīm not sure...
FCP does import and edit 720p25 from P2 now...

    Hey all!

I'm shooting a feature and decided now to shoot 720 25p. Avid say their bringing out a new version that will support us PAL users in December.

I'm just wondering whats the best format I can shoot to get the best quality and best look.

Were using two HVX's, one with a firestore and the other with a P2 dump which has four P2 cards with it.

Should I be shooting Native, im not really sure what the difference is. HELP!!!

    Appreciate any help from anyone.

I think 720p (not 720Pn) is a good compromise for you. It is slightly less compressed than 1080 which might be better quality though.

It will be easier to handle because the files are smaller (although still big).

720Pn might be good if you intend shooting "off speed" a lot and it is maybe a bit more efficient for file sizes but it brings in complications for Post as well as it does not output through the F/W port (eg to your Firestore)

We updated our documentation. The old PDF links won't work anymore, go this way please:

We also split the general P2 workflow and speed tests into another article:
