This last weekend my wife and I went to my aunts summer home on Lake Samish for some nice R&R. So what does a cinematographer do on vacation? Bring along his HVX of course! Below you will find links to the footage that I shot- check it out- I hope you enjoy it. I put it together Disjecta style-

    The Web Version: (41MB)

Very nice. I loved the colors. Looks like it must have been a nice vacation. I like being able to just sit anywhere with the camera and explore for a shot at your own pace. Very relaxing. For a true Disjecta film though you would need some water fowl. lol

I'm glad you liked it. Yeah it is a lot of fun to just be able to go at my own pace, and see what happens- no schedule to worry about, no pressure. It was a nice vacation.

Yeah, the only water fowl I came across that was of any interest was that blue herring- and it just sat on top of the piling for over an hour. I think I would have seen more if I hadn't "slept in" - I'd get up at about 7:30 am and go film for a little while. Usually by then people would be out on the lake water skiing- scaring off most animals.

Not soon enough! I have the LetusFlip, which worked well for the DVX, but I think I'll need the Redrock for the HVX. I need to get a stepdown ring to test the Letus on the HVX .... Anyway, I'm definately saving up to get the Redrock.

Yeah, a couple of those shots were out on a dock, and with the boats passing by it made the dock really shake! there is one clip where in the original you can hear the boat get close and the skier is coming toward the dock- I had to pick up the camera and run before the camera got sprayed with water ....

haha FilmBoy, Why in the world would you step backward and get a SD camera, when HD is available....oh God and we wont even talk about P2 and how advanced it is.

    Ryan,
As always pants wetting beautiful footage. I went up to several lakes that kind of looked like that up in the Rockie Mountains, but it was like 80Degrees and no time to film you pull focus well. good stuff all around. With a lake named Shamis, I would have expected some Irish Jib music
