    hi,
we are about to make a large purchase of Firestore (11). Rumour has it that they are about to be recalled by manufacturer. has anyone heard anything to validate this?

we were going to use the Firestore rather than P2 due to recoding time; but this is a bit scary.

we are doing a shoot in rough condition and multiple cameras.

    thanks,

i just got some more info. it is not a recall (phew). but as of now, focus has stopped manufacturing the device, perhaps they are waiting for some part, they are not clear about it. they would resume supply to Panasonic in mid june.
i should know more this afternoon.

wow...i hope if they dont do a recall, yet found some way to greatly improve the FS100, that they make good for all of us who jumped into the FS100.

so here is the deal, i got some more info.
they are upgrading the device. apparently they are changing the battery (power) pins. the 3 pins there are prone to bending, when the user is not careful. supposedly, they are making it more rugged.
    we'll see.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on this. Do you know anything more with regard to what this means for existing users? I'm suspecting we'll see another model number and perhaps an offer to replace if we have a problem with the pins.

I wonder if there is anything else to this though. Although I have not had the blocking issue on my FS100 since doing the latest firmware update from Focus, others have been having it after and have confirmed its not the FW cables that are responsible.

Please let us know anything else you are able to find out.
    Thanks
    Mark
