    A variable length tether to an external box which has all the inputs and outputs which can be kept away from the operator. This way the camera could be in smaller spaces, or be lighter for the operator doing hand held, or on a lightweight jib

    I like this idea. I think it would be awesome for tripod/jib shots to be able to move the clutter away from the camera and put it ten feet away. The camera could have a high density connector that you could plug the external box into. It would suck for handheld shots though.

    Great!
    .. if possible, can you keep it nice and thin and flexible (yeah, Steadicam again..)

    Fiber would be nice.. or then something like Triax (to a CCU/breakout station)
