All live-action scenes shot with DVX-100 Classic. Shot in 4x3, cropped ito 1.85:1 in post using Final Cut Pro. (Moon and Mars are from images found on Net.)

HERE IS THE FULL MOVIE. (5099.7Kb Quicktime)

    HERE ARE SCREENGRABS AND DESCRIPTIONS
    1. Moon. This is either the basis of my future prodco logo, or a title sequence to a short I am writing. Just playing around with FCP and type.

    2. Day for Night sequence. I didn't originally shoot this footage as source material for a day4nite test, but the image turned out nicely once I added the stars.

    3. My daughter in the sprinkler. Some CC in FCP. I would reshoot this in 30P instead of 24P to get a slightly smoother look. It's been slowed down in parts.

    4. Sci-Fi test. Mars shot from Nasa, blue anamorphic lens flare by Sapphire. Stars by Photoshop again.

    5. My daughter waking up my wife in bed.

    (Music is Haydn's Surprise Symphony.)

I just threw this together, and there's no common theme - just randomness. Anyway, let me know what you think of it.

    Thanks.

    - Matt

day for night was impressive. i actually didn't read your post until after i watched. when i saw that shot i was like, so what? a day shot and a night shot. now that i see that it is day turned to night, it makes sense. in other words, you fooled me. good job.

    please share your method....

    Day for Night Shot:

    1. 3-Way Color Corrector
Brought the highlights way down, and heavy blue tint, desaturated quite a bit.

    2. Gradient Sky Overlay
Created in Photoshop, just covering the sky and not the building. Transparent .png file set to "Multiply"

    3. Stars
Separate .png file also creted in photoshop.

    Damn.

I had to watch that a couple of times to really undertand what you meant by "day for night"

    Like cw I was fooled.

Well done and thanks for the tips on doing that shot.

BTW. The shots with your daughter are so NOT video.

Well done on that too. Very nice work. Very filmic.

Thanks, everyone. I'll try to post something more substantial soon.

I am slowly building my arsenal of tools...
