I walked down to the Historic Distillery District here in Toronto to shoot some daytime tests. All footage is using deafult settings with Cine-D and Normal Matrix. Personally, I have no issues with noise. I find it very film-like. I don't mess with the detail and coring setting because it turns the grain-like noise to more blocky and blotchy stuff. The clip is compressed with Sorenson Squeeze so the noise is more evident than the original footage.

Enjoy. BTW, the music is by Pilate.

The original clip has been replaced with this smaller version due to bandwith problems.

The only noise that was noticable was (near the end) where the guy entered the frame from the left (on his jacket) -- walking away from the camera. Great footage . . . yet another example of what the HVX is capable of in the hands of a talented operator. Thanks Bob!

Yeah, that was bad compression from Sorenson there. The original footage doesn't have that. Thanks for looking.

Great stuff Bob; loved it. I always feel like I just took a trip after watching something like this.

Wow. This camera is making me jealous.

Did not notice any noise at all. A beautiful image.

great shots. love the colors. is it great to see someting with a a lot of people in it. the greens and reds look real good.

how comfortable is it to hand hold the camera?

also really liked the mood you went for with the music. Toronto looks like a cool place.

This is some of the first HVX footage that really stands out to me.. and that is because there is some feeling to what you have done. I feel a connection made with the shooting style, music mood and edit pace. Besides the technical advantages, you are showing how the camera’s characteristics contribute to making that emotional connection with the viewer. Now I want one.

thanks for posting it. post some more

Nice footage. You did some good follow focus. Did you use the viewfinder or LCD screen to do that? Do you find it easy to find your focus when shooting hand held like this with the camera? It looked like you went a little past your fucus a few times, but then gently moved back to nail it (it's good if you can find your focus without focus assist).

Thanks for the nice footage and cool music!

The more I play with this camera, I find that you are right about messing around with detail and coring, the default settings seem to give you a more overall noise (and not blocks).

I thought the same thing.. Good ability to follow the subjects and focus. I've started to use the black and white viewfinder. I think it's easier to check focus and adds some stability to the shooting.. and I never use the LCD outside...
