    Hey guys,

My buddy and I shot this last weekend. We have all of the original files 720/24p (8 p2 cards) but since we're on pc and can't afford Raylight, we did the project in SD.

Nice deep subject matter. Nicely done. Pat yourselves on the back. You should enter it into a festival.

Some shots looked very filmic (car/city shots on the highway, shots of capitol records building, a few of the subway tunnel shots). What did you do in post on the subway sequences where the boyfriend picked up the girl on the train? Those looked great. And do you guys live in LA?

I did like the dialoge. It seems like something you'd read more than you'd watch.
Sorry to be the downer here, but the footage was not impressive. It looks just like the DVX. Bad in low light and grainy as hell. You should learn how to light your shots..doesn't anybody use lights anymore? How is it people can afford a 6000 dollar camera but can't drop any cash on a light kit or at least rent one? That's part of the reason why I think this just doesn't cut it. That and the shots were bad. Once again though, I have to say great writing. Keep practicing

storyteller32: the Red Line sequences were magic bulleted. I don't remember the precise settings, but if you PM me, I can look them up.

Angrius: I'm glad you liked the writing. A lot of the reason why it looks like DVX footage is because this is the SD version of what we shot. We dubbed the 720p footage onto a DV tape so we lost detail... but we still dumped all the P2 cards on to a harddrive. Eventually we'll replace the sd clips with beautiful 16:9 4:2:2 720/24p clips, but until then, yes - it looks like DVX footage.

And I'm pretty sure that an image will always be grainy if it's not lit. Our fault, not the HVX's.

Thanks for all the input guys. I can't wait to see what you're all working on.

I love that beach so much dude. you should go down further and film at the part where the pillar supports are, but there's no real land that it's supporting anymore, so it's like a cave. I'd love to see high def footage of that part. the whole beach. it's awesome.

And the short was killer too. I'm happy to finally see narrative stuff popping up, and especially more happy to see that they're good as well.
