I get blotches of color in areas of high luminance when lowering luminance using HSL. I am only lowering luminance from around 1.00 to 0.95. Is there a way to eliminate this color blotching while still being able to decrease the overall luminance?

1: use Levels instead of HSL. It sounds like you're adjusting for exposure?
2. Use Curves instead of HSL. Smoother ramp in the gamma.DSE/"Spot"

Yes, I am trying to "darken" areas that are blown out somewhat. I tried lowering luminance using HSL, but then blotchy colored areas show up. I'll give levels a try as you suggest, and report back. Thanks!

I like the curves a little better, because of the graphic representation.
