Ok, check this one out - rechargable USB 2 laptop drive enclosure for $35. Runs for 2 hours on Li-Ion battery. Shoot to 1 4gb P2 card - download footage in camera to this puppy. (potential issues with storage reliability but hey, its cheap). 100GB 7200rpm laptop drives are under $200.

Oh slick! Would a P2 card plug right into that?

prolly not- not to mention, the device would have to recognise the p2 format (non standard) - thats why panasonic came out with their own version and its $1600

? Sorry I understand the english after "prolly not"(?). But the meaning without that key it seems to me a contradiction. May you better explain to me, please?

probably it would not work with P2 (since it doesn't have a pcmcia card slot in the device) - furthermore (not to mention), if it did have a pcmcia slot, the device may only recognise pictures and not MXF video data. I guess the phrase "not to mention" would be like saying - "I dont want to overstate/exaggerate the point"

A firewire capable enclosure would be a much better buy, usb 2 isn't as fast as fw.
Here's one recommended by Jarred...
