I got a nice phone call this morning. I found out that the documentary I shot in 2017, "Ali & Cavett: The Tale of the Tapes"
that has been showing on HBO for the past 8 months just won (tied) the 2020 Critics Choice Award for Best Sports Documentary.
We tied for the award with "Athlete A" from Netflix. HBO is getting the film nominated for a Peabody Award my friend, the director told me also. Pretty cool.

For anyone who thinks you need the best, most state of the art equipment to shoot compelling documentaries, I shot this in 1080 with the C100 MKI and the Atomos Ninja Blade using still lenses, my ancient Nikon Ai set fron the 70s.

It's a business first and a creative outlet second.
G.A.S. destroys lives. Stop buying gear that doesn't make you money.

Congrats, Dan. I've been meaning to check that doc out. Ali and Cavett had a really interesting relationship...

That has to feel really good. Good on you and your partners. Hopefully, it is a shot in the arm (oy) in these depressing times.

Congratulations. I'll have to see if I can watch it. We no longer subscribe to HBO.
