It was kind of a standard entry to mid-level, low-priced shotgun in the mid-to-late 90's through the early 00's. It was pretty good bang-for-the-buck back then. We did dozens, if not 100's of interviews that ran on network TV with them.
Although it is rare to see something other than a Sanken or Schoeps on the end of a boom today, I still have mine in one of my cases, "just in case". Does it sound as good as one of those? No. But if something crazy happened and I couldn't use my Sanken or Schoeps, it sounds better than silence.

Maybe my K6 pre-amp is going bad because to my ears, I expected it to sound okay and hooked it up and my face made that sour lemon look, like "Oof, that sounds horrible, honky mids, tinny highs". I too shot a
ton of stuff with it in the 90s and early 2000s, and I never remembered them sounding that bad, they didn't sound as good as the MKH-416 but I never remember bad, but maybe that was because my ears weren't
as educated back then? Or maybe mine is actually going bad, possible, it is old. I'll never get mine looked at because why? I have lots of other mics that sound great so not much reason to.Last edited by puredrifting; 01-21-2021 at 09:07 PM.

Does this look good? Says 400 hour battery life and is 8.5” compared to the 11” of the Audio Technica.

Can't you power a mic from the 3.5mm terminal? From the manual:
"Plug-in Power (MIC Terminal)
You can supply plug-in power to an external microphone connected to the MIC terminal.
Select > [¡ Audio Setup] > [MIC Power] > [On].
• Connecting an external microphone that does not require power supply when [MIC Power] is set to [On], may
damage the microphone."
The MIC terminal is previously identified as the 3.5mm terminal
So you could get something as short as this: https://www.newsshooter.com/2020/09/...al-microphone/www.VideoAbe.com

That’s what I’d asked earlier, if the C70 has mic power out of the 1/8” port. It looks like you’re saying it does? That is from the C70 manual? Do you know if the C300 Mark III has it as well? I know my C300 Mark IIs do not have mic power out of the 1/8” port.

Sorry amigo that was from the C300III manual, I got confused and thought you were asking about that camera
Update: the C70 has plug-in power for the 3.5mm terminal as well:
"Selecting the Input Type for the MIC Terminal
Change the setting according to the audio device connected to the MIC terminal.
1 Select > [¡ Audio Setup] > [MIC Input]
2 Select [MIC (with Power Supply)], [MIC], or [LINE]
• Select [MIC (with Power Supply)] to supply plug-in power to the external microphone.
IMPORTANT
• Connecting an external microphone that does not require power supply when [MIC Input] is set to [MIC (with
Power Supply)], may damage the microphone."
