User manuals have become less and less helpful. I've seen a few user manuals that are barely more than what's on the promo pamphlet. Canikony tends to still be pretty good, but seeing how much more clear Abe's advice was by him adding that one extra detail, that just goes to show why I end up not even reading them. haha.

I only reference the manual at absolute last resort.

    Yeah, haha, I go...

    1. flip through the manual, make sure there are no safety hazards before I turn the thing on.
    2. turn the camera on, try to break it.
    3. search forums for info.
    4. read manual if I cannot figure it out.
    5. ask a question on a forum.
    6. feel stupid for asking that question when I see how easy it is.
    7. enjoy the camera.
    8. hate the camera.
    9. accept the camera.
    10. enjoy the camera.

    11. new camera announced.
    12. hate the new camera for making my camera obsolete and changing up some things that negate the muscle memory I just built up with the previous camera

That's why they are commonly referred to as "Moaners annuals" in the retail trade. People moaning before reading the manual.

This camera is great. I know many of us were waiting for the release date but now many of us might have to wait for another year to buy because of pandemic. There is not that much work in the industry at the moment.

Yes, us humans are pretty predictable in these areas. The longer the waiting period, the less we feel we "need" the camera. Supply chain is quite important to profits.

And the printed manuals, IF the equipment even comes with one, are essentially visually unreadable today. Besides being physically tiny with really small typeface/point sizes, someone has decided that everything should now be printed light-grey-on-white, instead of black-on-white.

Many manuals are very poorly translated into English from their original Chinese or Japanese. One can even look at the eBay products and find a lot of odd syntax.

But things could get much worse, if you're reading the Russian signs in English.
