Don't know if anybody following this German Tv mini-series on Netflix but it's gorgeous to look at. 1929 Germany and many period set pieces I've not seen; like elevators (lifts?) with no door. Said to be the most expensive German tv production ever and it shows.

Fantastic show! Loved it. I think Netflix combined the first two seasons into one with really long episodes?
I’ve filmed a few times myself in one of the main reoccurring locations (the big club). It’s a beautiful old silent film theatre called Stummfilmkino Delphi.Sony FX9 | FS700R | A7S | Odyssey 7Q+ | Atomos Ninja V

The trancey dance scene in episode 2 in the big club was mesmerizing. Late 20s is an interesting time period to explore, between the great war and wwII, and great depression about to happen here.

Pata nosta lifts are not uncommon even now in Europe.

as you will note it is normally two lifts one always going up and one always going down. In fact it is a single loop and, yes you can go over the top and people do.....

Yes watched it when it came out originally back in 2017. Seems like an eternity now. So much has happened since. I followed up on its production details. ARRI of course... at its best. The production, style, color, time period ambiance, shooting, music, etc were absolutely first class. Indeed a top-class production in anyone's language. I also enjoyed the rather unique German story.

Amazing design! I started a thread on Babylon Berlin a little more than a year ago:
