Herpes is more popular than 3D TV. Outside of some die-hards on the home theater forums, when was the last time you really heard someone talking about 3D? ; )

Now, I just wish vertical video would catch some sort of disease and die.

So people look at me funny when I take photos or video with my phone since I hold it horizontal without even thinking. How do you guys do it?

    Horizontal. Period. Full Stop.

I hate to see my producers, who know better, shoot vertical video just so talent can post it on their social media.

Vertical extraction from 4K or 6K for social media is not that difficult so why would anyone (in a pro realm) shoot vertically? Unless it's for vertical signage where it matters?
It's a business first and a creative outlet second.

Nothing wrong with shooting vertical photos; pro photographers have been doing it all along.

Are you asking why you would want to extract 2K from 6K rather than 6K from 6K? The answer seems obvious; the quality is better. Most 6K cameras probably start looking pretty cruddy with a 300% zoom in, such that even on a 1080p phone screen the differences could be noticeable.
