Any one updated to FCPX 10.4.7? I am not jumping into Catalina. Wonder if FCPX 10.4.7 will work without Catalina? If so, how is it? Any bugs?

Nothing major has been reported yet...always a potential for bugs though (big or small).

Improvements are equal for FCPX 10.4.7 when running in either Mojave or Catalina:

Moving to 10.4.7 is Ok and works the same in Mojave as 10.4.6.
However there are some bugs when moving to Catalina.
One I have discovered is the Photos App has limited access to its files.
This issue mayor may not be an issue for your workflow.

In any case BACKUP you system so you can revert if necessary.

10.4.7 has some significant performance improvements for certain tasks. E.g, even on Mojave the "BruceX" benchmark is about 2x faster on my 10-core Vega 64 iMac Pro. Several common encoding case to H264 are about 40% faster.

However problems have been reported on certain HEVC codecs, including the EVA-1. I experienced this on some HEVC test material from a DJI Inspire 2. The symptom is FCPX instability often resulting in complete app hang. I reported this to Apple Pro Apps support and sent them a replication scenario include files. Other HEVC material I tested (inc'l iPhone) seemed OK, so it's not all HEVC, just certain types.

10.4.7 is so much faster except for the HEVC thing (which seems somewhat narrow) it's a worthwhile upgrade. You can obtain these benefits on Mojave without risking Catalina and its lack of 32-bit support.
