"iPhone 11 Pro lets you capture videos that are beautifully true to life, with greater detail and smoother motion. Epic processing power means it can shoot 4K video with extended dynamic range and cinematic video stabilization all at 60 fps. You get more creative control, too, with four times more scene and powerful new editing tools to play with."

I wonder when the phones will get ProRes.

This would sound crazy just a few years ago, but it now sounds right.

Cameras will always have the hardware advantage - granted. But cellphone EOMs are really running away with the computational side of it - to the point, where I simply don't see camera-only companies, such as f.ex. Nikon or Fuji, ever catching up, to be honest. These new chipsets and the super sophisticated software running it is just beyond the capability of the cam OEMs, at least as structured today. So while dedicated film/photo cameras have the hardware advantage, more and more I'm thinking it will matter less and less when the computational side will simply change the way we acquire images, period. We live in interesting times!

I agree. I think someone will marry the traditional camera systems with the computational side, which is still fairly young and has made incredible improvements in the last decade. The fact that my phone simulates DoF in a fairly organic way is kinda amazing and they're figuring out the lens situation by adding more lenses. The cameras really need to increase DR and the instant bracketing they're doing may be able to be used for video when they have the horsepower like a mobile version of RED's HDR-X.

Footage still looks oversharpened and "mobile", so it's not mature enough for me to chuck my C200 in the garbage, but give it 10 years...

Probably gonna get it. I have a X, that I love, and skipped last years 's' upgrade. Do I need it? No. But they're like toys for adults and why work hard if you're not gonna enjoy some of your money/buy things you want(I'm obviously talking about within reason, not running around "spending it like a drunken sailor", as my Mom used to say). But, the new camera module does look pretty darn good. The cameras(both still and video) seem to get better and better every generation and are actually pretty scary how good they. Well, they've been scary good for a while, now.

I’m thinking that’s one of the reasons why Apple is going after RED’s raw patents...
